2020/2021 Beta Alpha Psi Events

To Friends of MTSU's Accounting Program:

We are excited to share details on our 2020/2021 Beta Alpha Psi events. All planning during this COVID-19 pandemic is driven by our desire to best serve our students and their future employers while protecting the health of everyone involved. With this goal in mind, we will host our highly successful signature recruiting events again this year, albeit in a different format and on a different schedule than in prior years.

The first event, Meet the Firms, kicks off our recruiting season on Thursday, September 10, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. This year’s event will be held virtually and hosted through Handshake, Middle Tennessee State University’s new career and job posting platform. We invite you to participate by setting up virtual one-on-one recruiting sessions with students, informational group presentations, or a combination of both, to share opportunities related to full-time employment, internships, and leadership conferences. As a Meet the Firms participant, you will receive an electronic Resume Book containing resumes for Beta Alpha Psi members. Additional event details are provided below.

The second event, Battle for the BAP Cup annual golf outing, normally held in late September, is tentatively scheduled for Friday, April 23, 2021, health conditions permitting. We view this new timing as an exciting way to close out the academic year while providing a great networking opportunity in advance of summer internships and leadership programs. Additional registration and logistical details will be provided this coming spring, once plans for the event have been finalized.

Meet the Firms and Battle for the BAP Cup are the two most significant activities our chapter hosts. Proceeds from these events help pay our operating costs and our members’ travel to regional and national meetings. Your financial contribution makes these and other crucial activities possible and, in turn, enables us to better prepare students for professional careers. Although the format of Meet the Firms and the timing of our golf outing are changing this year due to COVID-19, the needs of our students and the resulting operating budget of our chapter are largely unaffected. For these reasons, we will maintain the same registration fees as in prior years. We remain grateful to you and thank you for your continued support!

Because Meet the Firms and Battle for the BAP Cup will occur in different semesters, we will collect fees for the two events separately, a departure from our process in previous years. The $200 Meet the Firms registration fee will be collected this fall. Golf fees for organizations entering a participating team (+$350) or a tournament sponsor team (+$650) will be collected as part of the formal golf outing registration process next spring.

While your financial support is important, your interaction with our students is invaluable. We invite you to make a presentation at one of our Beta Alpha Psi meetings, which are held on Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m. The BAP Chapter Presentation Request Form contains additional information; please use it to indicate your interest in speaking to our chapter. We very much look forward to working with you in the upcoming academic year.
